Budget

Bluecoins lets you plan spending by category: category, subcategory, or top-level category. Budgets are checked against your spending over a chosen interval and shown in the Budget Summary tab and on the Budget Summary dashboard card.

Setting a budget

  1. Open the Budget tabs (or Settings β†’ Category Tree).
  2. Set the Budget Interval β€” weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or a custom date range (e.g. your pay cycle). The interval applies to all budgets, and the report keeps your chosen interval even if you change other filters.
  3. Pick a Category and tap Budget, entering the amount.

Budget frequency

The interval is a global preference but a budget amount is entered per category. With a β€œmonthly” interval, your budgeted amounts represent the monthly total. Once set, the Budget Summary tab shows:

  • amount spent vs budget,
  • progress against the budget,
  • percent used with color coding β€” approaching the limit turns it amber, exceeding it turns it red,
  • remaining amount, and budget carry-over between intervals.

Extra controls

  • Category sorting β€” sort budgets by category, amount, or percent used.
  • Period selectors and filters β€” the date-range picker and the filter dialog work together: applying a filter keeps the chosen period and frequency (and cancels stale report jobs if you change filters mid-flight).
  • Budget by top/detailed level β€” toggle how subcategory budgets roll up.
