Credit Cards

Bluecoins treats credit cards as responsible money management, not debt wizardry: the balance sheet shows the full credit limit and remaining credit, and transactions are tracked like any other account β€” with a few credit-card-specific powers.

Statement cycle

Each credit card account can be configured with a cutoff day (the day your statement is generated) and a due day (the day payment is due). These define when a statement β€” the set of transactions to settle β€” begins and ends. Configure them per account in Settings β†’ Account.

Statement-based views derive from this cycle:

  • Credit statement β€” every purchase with its date, posted to the credit bill.
  • Due day indicator β€” a card header shows when payment is due and what’s unbilled.

From the dashboard

The Credit Card Summary card on the Main Dashboard shows, for all credit cards:

  • total remaining credit vs total credit limit,
  • amount outstanding β€” what has been used,
  • how much of the limit a particular card holds.

Tap the card to open the credit-card detail view.

Unbilled installments

Installments can be checked with an inline credit-card info line in Account Transactions, showing the unbilled portion of installment purchases.

Paying your bill

To pay a credit card:

  1. Create a transaction of type Transfer from your bank/cash account to the credit-card account.
  2. The transfer reduces the liability (outstanding) without touching income/expense.

FAQ

  • Do I need to have a credit card to use Bluecoins? No.
  • Can I budget against a credit card? Yes β€” credit spending is expense when you enter it, and the card is a liability account.
  • Why is my card’s number negative? A credit card balance is a liability: the more you owe, the more negative it reads. You can choose to display liability accounts as positive if you prefer (Settings β†’ Currency).
