Reconcile
Reconciling keeps your records accurate. Bluecoins suggests a label-based flow that fits even the most complex accounts, and is flexible enough for your own system.
The label method
- Create a label called “Reconciled” (Settings → Label or inline in the label picker).
- Compare your bank statement with the account ledger in Bluecoins.
- Multi-select the transactions that match your statement and add the label.
The “Reconciled” label then marks exactly which transactions your statement already covers. Any transaction without the label is unmatched.
Advanced tips
- Use a different label per statement/period — e.g. “Reconciled Jan 2024” — so you can inspect previous statements too.
- Adjusting entries: if your statement shows a charge Bluecoins doesn’t, add it; if Bluecoins shows an entry the bank doesn’t, research—you may have an unsubmitted transaction. Either way, correcting entries keeps the ledger truthful.
- Monthly discipline — reconciling at statement cut-off (see Credit Cards) is the quickest and most reliable cadence.
- Pending/dirty lines: transactions dated future show up as pending in the account view; don’t try to reconcile those until they post.
Export
Export the account transactions (CSV or full report) — with labels included (v11.8.5+) — and diff against your bank export in a spreadsheet. The Excel/CSV guide covers the export options.
